Back

Now in its 5th year, Rooted in Our Future has grown from a small wine-tasting event to a beautiful evening celebration that welcomes over 200 Preserve supporters.

Our event program features a fall-inspired small plates menu, native botanical cocktails, live music, a locally curated silent auction and a lively Raise Your Paddle fundraiser.

Over $500,000 has been raised from this signature event since 2021. Please join us for an evening of community, friendship and fundraising to support the Preserve’s bright future.

HOW ARE FUNDS USED THAT ARE RAISED FROM ROOTED IN OUR FUTURE?

Funds will support the Preserve’s most crucial operations and priority funding needs. The Preserve’s annual operating budget is over $1.3 million, and monies raised from Rooted in
Our Future will ensure safe and accessible facilities and trails, compelling virtual and in-person education programs, a premier Native Plant Nursery and much more.

HOW CAN I MAKE THE BIGGEST IMPACT?

Each event ticket purchased helps cover the costs associated with hosting this wonderful event, like catering and event rentals. Funds raised from Event Sponsorships, Raise Your Paddle gifts and Silent Auction bidding combined are where we achieve/exceed our event fundraising goals.

INDIVIDUAL AND CORPORATE EVENT SPONSORSHIPS
Event sponsorships are available now, and we welcome both individual supporters and businesses. All sponsor levels come with complimentary event tickets. Click here to see sponsorship options and make your gift online. Contact development@bhwp.org for more information.

RAISE YOUR PADDLE

Raise Your Paddle is akin to a live auction but instead of bidding on items, guests “raise their paddle” to pledge a monetary gift. Pledge levels vary from $200-$10,000 and are announced by our special guest “auctioneer.” Guests will receive paddle at event check-in which they will use to raise when the level is announced that they choose to pledge. It’s exciting and heartening to witness our guests’ generosity. We’ve raised over $80,000 from Raise Your Paddle alone each year.

CAN'T ATTEND ROOTED IN OUR FUTURE? MAKE AN ABSENTIA GIFT!
Ahead of the event, you can make a Raise Your Paddle gift that will be announced on your behalf as a “paddle in absentia.” In absentia gifts make a significant impact towards our Rooted in Our Future fundraising goals and allow you to show your support in real-time at the event. If you prefer giving anonymously, we are happy to accommodate.

IS ROOTED IN OUR FUTURE HELD OUTDOORS?

Yes! We install a large party tent within the Great Lawn area, adjacent to the South Meadow and James L. Moore Pavilion, which allows us to celebrate, rain or shine. We think you will be delighted by the Preserve-inspired touches: for example, no fresh cut flowers! We only feature vibrant native plant material – like fresh meadow cuttings and plants from our Native Plant Nursery.

IS ROOTED IN OUR FUTURE BLACK-TIE ATTIRE?

No! Rooted in Our Future's suggested attire is casual chic. Wear your favorite Preserve-inspired colors and comfortable footwear, like Muck Boots. Come ready to relax and enjoy!

We look forward to toasting with you, showcasing our exciting new initiatives and “raising the paddle” to the Preserve’s bright future.

With gratitude,

Your Friends at the Preserve
