A favorite of many of the Preserve’s members, sourwood is grown for its brilliant red foliage in the fall. One of the few trees that blooms in summer, its white flowers droop in clusters resembling tassels or lilies of the valley. Prefers sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil.
