Signature Plants of the Preserve Walk

At this time of year we honor a special group of wildflowers, the spring ephemerals, that emerge, bloom and fruit before the forest canopy closes. These plants complete their life cycle before summer’s heat and droughts and then rest below ground until another spring. Take a walk with Education Coordinator Kelly Joslin and discover the wildflowers, shrubs and understory trees that, because of their beauty, wildlife value, ecological role and garden worthiness, we have dubbed our Signature Plants.
