This aster is great for attracting late season pollinators, blooming from late September through early November, with numerous flower heads in a branched cluster. Each flower head has white, blue or violet ray flowers (they look like petals), and central disk flowers that start out yellow, but turn purple as they age. It prefers full to part sun and moist soil, but is tolerant of soil with clay, gravel or even rocks. In a sunny, moist spot it may reproduce through its underground root system in addition to its flowers and can grow to a height of about four feet.
