Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)

$4.00

Jack-in-the-pulpit’s flowers are concealed inside the ‘pulpit’ (spathe) at the base of the spadex. Typically the flowers on an individual plant in a given season are either all male or all female, and can change sex from one season to the next, depending on how much energy the plant was able to produce during the previous growing season. Female flowers produce a cluster of bright red fruit. Does well in heavy shade, likes moist well-drained soil, and can tolerate growing near Black Walnut.
