Amy Everett can’t exactly recall her first time at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve. She was born and raised in Doylestown and her first visits to the Preserve were with her teenage friends. Amy’s commitment to public service began as a volunteer for the Fresh Air Fund when she was twenty and continued while raising a family, being an avid gardener and owner of Amy’s Coin-Op Laundry, which was located where El Tule restaurant currently is in Lambertville.
Amy started volunteering at the Preserve's Visitor Center, welcoming guests, just before Covid-19 pandemic. Once the Preserve reopened, she moved to the gatehouse where she loved meeting members, volunteers and visitors, including the curious first-time visitors ready to explore.
It was during her time at the gatehouse that Amy learned of the propagation volunteer team (prop team) and was intrigued by their hands-on work and intense focus. She thought, "I want to get in there!" With the encouragement of our Nursery manager, she applied and began her training process. Four years later, Amy is now a prop team leader and a member of the Nursery Committee.
Amy’s favorite Preserve volunteer work has been consistent: Nursery Season Opening Weekend at the gatehouse. ‘The excitement of all the people lined up to get inside, especially whoever’s first in line and the thrill for kids getting a ride in the golf cart, it’s the best." The Preserve is privileged to count on Amy as a volunteer leader, and the Preserve community is very thankful for her service.
