Spicebush (Lindera benzoin)

$25.00

Spicebush is an ecosystem powerhouse that works well in the garden, with yellow starburst blooms in early spring before the leaves appear. Not only decorative, it provides much needed nectar for early butterflies, bees and other pollinators.  The leaves feed the caterpillars of Spicebush Swallowtail butterflies and the beautiful Promethea Moth. Leaves turn bright yellow in the fall complemented by copious red fruit on plants with female flowers, with perfect timing and nutrition for bird migration. Tolerates sun to shade, and moist to medium soils.
