Hayscented Fern (Dennstaedtia punctilobula)

Named hay-scented fern because the crushed leaves smell like fresh mown hay, hay-scented fern’s characteristics are unusual for a fern. It will grow in sun (with sufficient moisture) or shade and tolerates moist to dry conditions. It spreads densely and aggressively by it’s rhizomes and can form large colonies that crowd out other species. Deer and rabbit resistant, consider planting it as a ground cover in a contained bed underneath established trees and shrubs.
