Related to jack-in-the-pulpit but much more dramatic, mature green dragons send up one large (up to 3 feet) stalk with 7 to 15 leaflets arranged in a semi-circle at the top. It is named for the long thin cylindrical flower structure that extends beneath the leaf which is said to resemble a dragon’s tongue. In late summer the flowers produce red berries on an up to 7 inch stalk, providing a nice accent in the shade garden. Requires moist soil in full or part shade.
