The dogwood tree that we all know and love. Showy flowers, red fruit loved by birds, and great fall color. Often seen blooming in the woods, it does best in sun to light shade. It supports birds and is an important butterfly host, unlike the non-native Kousa dogwood that has berries which are too large for birds, provide inadequate nutrition, and is not a host plant for our butterflies.
